The Song in my Heart

I have many talents and gifts, and for those I am truly grateful. I know and have known my entire life that singing is not one of them. I will leave that to my incredibly talented Aunt Donna, cousin Marnie and niece Eva. However, tonight I sang - and I'm still singing. With my oldest daughter out at a sleepover, and our lives turned upside down as we move our family, I am not exaggerating when I say.... there's crazy livin' going on here. In the midst of moving furniture out and boxing things up an odd sense of calm was in our lives tonight. Whether is came from the act of de-cluttering and freeing up space, or just the idea of change - tonight felt great. I got my two little ones ready for bed and they - without a lot of fuss and LOUD talking - fell into the rhythm of the bedtime routine. Since their big sister was away I let them snuggle with me in my bed (ok, nothing new there). When I laid down next to them, something in my soul prompted me to start singing to the

In Vision...

As we begin a new year the need to reaffirm the vision for our lives becomes important. I cannot begin to tell you how many people I have talked to who have said that 2010 was a very difficult year for them and how much they were looking forward to 2011. With all that hope and energy why not design a vision board for yourself? Not only is this a great way to visualize your life's work and what you mission is, but it also gives a sign to the Universe to say: "Hello...I am waiting for all these fabulous possibilities and appreciate your help!" (P.S. gratitude is a must!) A few Sunday's ago, I co-hosted a vision board/creativity day with some of my closes friends. The energy in the room was palpable, the laughter was contagious and the boards - well all I can say is that they are inspiring. Your probably thinking - "why do I need a vision board. I know what I want from my career, family, etc..." Think of it this way, sometimes in the craziness of life, we lose

Mindful Monday

"Adventure is worthwhile in itself." - Amelia Earhart I just finished watching an old movie about Amelia Earhart. I know that there is a new movie coming out soon about her life, and it stars the fabulous Hilary Swank. What I loved about this movie and about Amelia in general is how fearless and adventurous she was. She really strived to live life on her terms, even if it meant going against the grain of what society expected of her...and women in general. So, on the first mindful Monday post - and on this blog dedicated to exploring personal missions and living passionately - I ask you to sincerely ponder: Are you Living YOUR Mission? Even if your mission is to get your kids out the door on time for the bus every morning..are you doing it? And if your not, what's keeping you from doing it? Believe me, I don't live my mission everyday. But, I've become so aware in recent months about what my purpose is that I try to live fully everyday. Some days I am mor

What is your mission or purpose?

Wow, that probably seems like a big question. And a little scary to think about. Take a deep breath and relax, it really isn't something you need to lose sleep over. I am guessing that if you had a moment of quiet time and focused you would hear your inner voice speaking to you. For me, I have been working my mission for a few years. It was after dealing with a life-changing medical situation did I realize that I was not living my purpose. During the years that I was sick, I wrote - a lot - about my life. After I had come through some difficult times it was time for me to take control of my life and do what I was meant to do. I have presented workshops and talked to many women about the importance for them to state their mission and have helped to find a way to focus on what they value. So, how do you get started? Let's start with a very important question. Take out a piece of paper and number it from 1 -5. Answer these questions - don't think too much, write the
